Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos hinted at a rift between the players and Jose Mourinho when discussing the coach's departure. Ramos was asked about Mourinho's exit at a sponsors' function yesterday.

"Collectively, not only at Real Madrid, but every team needs a coach who fully trusts his squad, you have to get excited about things, have ambition and the coach needs to generate respect because the dressing room is full of players from different cultures and countries and that's hard to handle," said Ramos.

"I do not think Mourinho left because of pressure.

"If you do not trust what you think and what you have inside your squad, it really is when you have a problem. For our part, there never has been a reason not to trust the coach."
