Real Madrid attacker Gonzalo Higuain admits the club is bemused with Raul's continued snub by Spain coach Luis Aragones.

The Argentine said: "We are all very pleased for Raul. He is playing very well for Madrid. But on the subject of the national team, I believe that he must be calm. He's been at the top for fifteen years and he must be proud of what he has done in his career.

"He must know that if he continues playing like he is, the call will arrive."

Higuain added: "Raul is at a great moment and it is necessary to take advantage of it. I have no problem with him playing every game for us when he is doing so well."
