Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria has hit out at the Madrid press in the aftermath of his controversy against Celta Vigo.
Di Maria has apologised for his ugly gesture towards fans, but went further on local radio.
Speaking on Radio La Red, he said he felt he was being singled out.
"Anybody else does that, nobody notices, but if I do it, it's front page news", he said.
What is more, Di María is not in any doubt about who is to blame for the present situation at Real Madrid.
"Maybe the Spanish press don't like me because I'm not one for giving interviews", he said, adding "they want to turn the club and everyone else against me. They're always hoping I'll do something so they can have a go at me."
Di Maria added: "My family were there in the stadium; I wouldn't do anything like that with them there."
