Real Madrid whiz Odegaard blanked for European competition

Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard did not see any European action this week.

Odegaard is registered for the Champions League, but was ignored by coach Rafa Benitez for victory over Malmo. Castilla teammates Borja Mayoral and Marcos Llorente were taken to Sweden.

Odegaard has not only been omitted from the first team squad but will not play for the Real Madrid 'Juvenil A' team who participate in the Uefa Youth League, despite Odegaard being the correct age to participate in this Uefa competition.

The player is available for selection but it appears that despite him training with the first team he is destined to play solely for Real Madrid Castilla in Spain's Segunda B league (third tier of Spanish football).
