Real Madrid threaten Man Utd plans for Monchi

Real Madrid have joined the battle for departing Sevilla sports chief Monchi.

The Daily Express says United manager Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on bringing Monchi with him to Old Trafford.

The 47-year-old, whose real name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, looks set to quit Sevilla this summer after the club won a third straight Europa League crown.

United's board are apparently willing to overhaul their current structure to appease Mourinho and appoint the former Sevilla goalkeeper.

But El Mundo Deportivo reports Real president Florentino Perez is working hard to scupper United's deal.

Perez is determined to land the 47-year-old after previously failing to lure him to the Bernabeu.
