Real Madrid in talks over Lucas, De Rossi as Xabi successor

Real Madrid are on the lookout for a replacement for prime playmaker Xabi Alonso.

El Confidencial says Real president Florentino Perez has met with coach Jose Mourinho to discuss identifying a long-term successor for the ex-Liverpool midfielder.

The two top candidates are AS Roma star Daniele de Rossi and Sao Paulo wonderkid Lucas.

De Rossi comes off contract in June and has been a long-term target for Florentino. He is also on the wanted list of Manchester City.

Lucas, meanwhile, is rated Brazil's brightest young midfield talent and at 18 is already a full international. Sao Paulo are prepared to sell for €30 million.

Lucas Leyva.....LMAO!

I think we should get mikel instead because mourinho will bring out the best in him.bt lucas is too young for our midfield,u can see what khedira is causing

I don't get this, Xabi is 31 and could play at the highest level till 35/36, why do want to get rid of his experience in the middle of park and replace him with Lucas? and De Rossi isnt the aggressive box to box player he used to be, he is more of a holding player that plays neat passes...madrid hate that sort of football
