Real Madrid have announced that agreement has been reached to take Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan for the rest of the season with the option of a permanent deal in the summer. Sky Sports News understands that a medical will take place in Madrid on Wednesday before the loan is sealed with the option of an £18m transfer.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Real Madrid CF and Manchester City FC have reached a deal that will see Emmanuel Adebayor play on loan for the former club.
"The player will remain at Real Madrid until the end of the current season, at which point the club hold a unilateral option to purchase the player."
