Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was delighted for France after they won the World Cup.

Engulfed in a blackmail scandal involving then teammate Mathieu Valbuena in late 2015, Benzema remains in the international wilderness with coach Didier Deschamps content to do without the Real Madrid man.

"Bravo, guys" tweeted Benzema on Sunday evening with a photo and hashtag confirming France as the 'champions of the world'.

October 8, 2015 was his last game for Les Bleus and this triumph perhaps puts the player even further out of Deschamps' plans.
