Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo says Sir Alex Ferguson is behind his history with the No7 shirt.

Ronaldo has revealed it was Ferguson who insisted he take the No7 at Manchester United.

CR7 said: “When I joined Manchester United I asked to wear 28 because it was my number at Sporting.

"The manager said no, I was to wear 7.

"I was slightly worried because I knew that (David) Beckham had worn it. However, things turned out well, it is my lucky number and everything I have achieved has been with this number."
