Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to hear from Manchester United about a stunning return to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese has struggled to recapture his top form this season as Los Blancos have fallen away in the title defence.
AS says the 32-year-old won his fifth Ballon d'Or last year, yet he has seen himself slip outside the top three earners in world football.
Ronaldo currently earns €21m net per season, enough to put him fifth on the money list, but president Florentino Perez had promised him a pay rise and having not done so, Ronaldo wants to return to Old Trafford.
He has heaped pressure on Perez over his future by floating the possibility of a move following his acceptance speech after winning the Ballon d'Or.
"I want to continue in Madrid if possible," Ronaldo said. "If possible, I would like to retire in Madrid.
"But it does not depend on me, I'm not the boss in the club."
