Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo proud to land fifth Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was proud to win the Ballon d'Or on Thursday night.

At a ceremony at the Eiffel Tower on Thursday evening, the 32-year-old was presented with the prize for the best men's player of their year, the fifth time he has won it.

It follows on from his claiming of FIFA's 'The Best' award, which the No.7 got his hands on in London in October.

Ronaldo also won the 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2016 editions of the award.

"I feel happy, it's a fantastic moment in my career," he said. "I've have been hoping for this for a long time.

"This year has been amazing.

"We won the Champions League and LaLiga, while I was the top scorer in the Champions League on a personal level.

"These trophies help to win these individual prizes and I must say thank you to my Real Madrid and Portugal teammates, who were very important for me.

"I am happy at Real Madrid and I want to stay there.

"I would like to finish my career at Real Madrid if possible.

"I want seven Ballon d'Or awards and seven children."
