Spanish giants Real Madrid could challenge Manchester United for promising Portuguese youngster William Carvalho.
The 22-year old Angola-born Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder has already been heavily linked with the Red Devils but recent reports suggest that Real are now looking to swoop for his services.
The Mirror is reporting that Real have sent scouts to watch Carvalho in action for Sporting three times in the past month which suggests they are serious about a possible summer transfer.
United were believed to have the monopoly on the two-time Portugal international and were hoping to tie him down prior to this summer's World Cup but Madrid's mooted interest could create some doubts in their pursuit.
