Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pushing to bring Xabi Alonso back from Real Madrid. The Mirror says Real will offer Xabi a two-year contract extension in a bid to prevent him returning to Liverpool.

Alonso had told club bosses that he wanted to leave at the end of this season and that put the Reds on alert to the chance of taking him back to Merseyside.
