Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has told England fans it's not Wayne Rooney's fault the team is struggling.

The Three Lions have produced two lacklustre draws so far in the World Cup and former Manchester United superstar Ronaldo says that there is too much emphasis on his old teammate Rooney.

"Wayne is a big player but he cannot do it all on his own," said Ronaldo. "It's difficult for him. Wayne tried very hard, but it's difficult when things don't happen. If the team doesn't score, it's always the big player's fault.

"I love watching the England games and I'm quite surprised they haven't won either of theirs. They fight and try hard, but football is like that and, yes, I do miss Manchester. But I don't think I will be going back there."
