Real Madrid's Bale needs to experience a major tournament with Wales - Swansea's Taylor

Wales full-back Neil Taylor is hoping Gareth Bale can finally strut his stuff at a major international tournament.

The Real Madrid star has been starved of opportunities with the Welsh national team but their results so far in Euro2016 qualifying suggest his chance may come in France next summer.

The Dragons are sitting pretty at the top of Group B after five matches and well-placed to end their drought of competing in a major event which dates back to 1958.

"A player of his calibre, and we've got plenty at that level, wants to experience a major tournament," Taylor told talkSPORT.

"He is producing every time he plays for us, he almost feels like the onus is on him and there is a real freedom when he plays.

"Players like him strike fear into opposition teams."

Of the former Tottenham ace, who netted a double in Saturday's 3-0 win over Israel, Taylor added: "He is without doubt world class and people have seen that this weekend.

"He's looked his normal self but it is massive pressure out there. The best players in the world, they all get it, they almost want perfect football."
