FC Twente fullback Roberto Rosales is being tracked by Real Madrid and AS Roma.
Real coach Jose Mourinho has had Rosales scouted for the past 12 months as he considers a new fullback signing.
Interest from Roma in recent days threatens Real's plans and could force them to bring forward their bid for the Venezuela international.
Twente are seeking €5 million for the defender.
