Sneijder suffered the injury in a clash with Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby and Real doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez admitted he faces "three to six months" on the sidelines.

Scans today on Sneijder will determine the extent of the injury, which Hernandez confirmed includes ligament damage.

Real coach Bernd Schuster said after the 1-0 defeat: "Sneijder is not right and we are all scared by the injury. It's a very difficult moment, he's in great pain."
