Real Madrid had Barcelona star Neymar's signature on a contract - at 14 years of age, it has been revealed.AS says Neymar trialled with Real in 2006 and shone alongside future Castilla stars Alex Fernandez, Dani Carvajal and Pablo Sarabia.
Real coaching staff wanted to sign the then Santos prospect on the spot and planned to play him in the junior team towards the end of the season.
Neymar, his father and Wagner Ribeiro, his agent, were happy to do the deal, but for a fee of €60,000.
It was then that the transfer fell through.
Then technical chief Ramon Martinez pushed for the fee to be paid, but Carlos Martínez de Albornoz, who was the chief executive at the time, refused to sign off on the deal. De Albornoz did not like the idea of committing €60,000 towards signing a 14 year-old junior.
Seven years on and Neymar signed for great rivals Barcelona this summer for €57 million.
