Real Madrid are set to snap up Mariano Konyk from Barcelona.

The 19 year-old midfielder has been training with Barca B in preseason since arriving from Valencia. However, Konyk was informed he couldn't be registered due to his non-EU status, says Sport.

The defender, an Argentine of Ukrainian descent, has been a Barça player only for several weeks, but is now in talks with Real, says Sport.

Negotiations are now are at an advanced stage between Konyk's camp and Real, where he will intially be registered with Castilla.

The defender had hoped to play for Barca, however, where his parents reside.
