Real Madrid are eager to open new contract talks with Sami Khedira.
The midfielder was watched by Manchester United coach Phil Neville last week and he has been outspoken by the way he's been made "a scapegoat" by the Madrid press for Real's recent woes.
But local media sources say rather than seek to cash in on Khedira, Real management hope to convince the German to stay.
Along with United, Chelsea are also being linked with the midfielder ahead of the January market.
