Real Madrid push Courtois to break off Chelsea contract talks

Real Madrid are pushing to convince Thibaut Courtois to end all contract talks with Chelsea.

The Mirror says Courtois has confirmed he is in advanced negotiations with the Premier League champions over a deal which would make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the game at £200,000-a-week.

But Spanish and European champions Madrid have yet to decide on their summer targets and want the Belgium international to hold off putting pen to paper until April, when they will decide whether to go for him or David de Gea, of Manchester United.

Courtois's deal expires in 2019 and if he will not extend then Chelsea would have to consider selling this summer — that is why Madrid feel he may be a more achievable target.

It remains a major concern for the Blues, even though the 25-year-old insists that he is happy in London and talks have progressed well.
