Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has revealed coach Bernd Schuster turned down the chance to add Sevilla fullback Daniel Alves to his squad last month.

"We could have bought Daniel Alves. From the financial point of view there were no problems, but Schuster was convinced of having already the best possible team," said Calderon.

"We currently have the best team in Europe."
