Real Madrid president Florentino: We're on the right path

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is convinced they're now on their way back to the top of the game in Spain.

Perez was awarded an insigne for 50 years service to the club.

He said: "As the President of Real Madrid, I am aware of the immense responsibility that comes with running the club. Together, we've begun a new project that so far has allowed us to win the Copa del Rey in what many regard as the championship's best ever final. We're on the right path and our financial leadership allows us to be strong, solid, more charitable and to pursue excellence. The search for victory without ever giving up is something we learned from our elders.

"I think we're going to have a great season. We have the best football coach in the world and the team is giving its all for you. It's just had the best run in the history of the Champions League group stage and it leads the league table."
