Real Madrid president Florentino turned traditional transfer policy on its head

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has overseen a rare transfer market campaign with more money being made by sales than lost on new arrivals.

Lassana Diarra's move to Anzhi for €8 million was the final departure of an unusual summer for Real.

Dani Carvajal (Bayer Leverkusen, €5M), Joselu (Hoffenheim, €6M) and Esteban Granero (QPR, €8M) all left, along with Fernando Gago (Valencia, €3.5 M), Hamit Altintop (Galatasaray €3.5M) and Sergio Canales (Valencia, €7.5 M).

There is also Nuri Sahin's move to Liverpool, worth around €6 million, which tallies over €47 million raised from Real sales.
