Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has paid tribute to the players after winning the La Liga title.

Perez described the campaign as one of the "most exciting in history".

He said: "Permit me to thank our squad, here represented by Xabi Alonso, Granero and Alvaro Morata, our manager Jose Mourinho, the coaching staff, represented by Aitor Karanka, and all the employees of the club and its members and supporters for winning such a tremendously special league title for all Madridistas.

"It's been one of the most exciting and intense championships in our history. I also wish to highlight and give praise to the incredibly high level of performance of our opponents, especially FC Barcelona. We feel proud and honoured for winning this title also due to them."
