Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to sell Sergio Ramos with the long-term aim of tempting Jose Mourinho back from Chelsea.
El Pais says Perez is quietly dismantling the leadership group which regularly butted heads with Mourinho during his time in charge.
Manchester United target Ramos was part of a group of players who actively opposed Mourinho and campaigned for his exit.
It is suggested that Perez - despite appointing Rafa Benitez to replace Carlo Ancelotti - desperately wants Mourinho back at the club as soon as possible.
And letting Ramos leave will be the continuation of a clear out of Mourinho detractors.
Mesut Ozil, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria have all be shipped out already and Ramos could be joined by Iker Casillas, Pepe and even Cristiano Ronaldo as Perez looks to pave the way for 'the Special One' to return.
