Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is delighted for Cristiano Ronaldo after he was crowned this year's Ballon d'Or.

Perez says Ronaldo thoroughly deserved the award.

"I'm happy to be here, with all of the ex-players of Real Madrid who are here with, and for, Cristiano Ronaldo," Perez said.

"For the club and all the Madridistas of the world, this fifth Ballon d'Or is an honour and a recognition.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world and he represents all of the values of Real Madrid.

"He is the best in history, along with Alfredo Di Stefano.

"He is his heir and, after him, a new stage in the club will arrive."

Finally, Perez spoke about all of the trophies and individual awards that the club has been winning in recent years.

"Real Madrid are a team that the entire world recognises," he remarked.

"We have grown with the obligation to win and, as such, we have many Champions League titles and many Ballon d'Or awards.

"There is a beautiful love story between Real Madrid and the Champions League and between Madrid and the Ballon d'Or."
