Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has agreed to sell Mateo Kovacic.
The Croatia international has made a verbal transfer request to management after returning from his summer break. He has also spoken to coach Julen Lopetegui of his intentions.
Don Balon says Perez has now agreed to sell Kovacic - and will seek to replace him with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, formerly of Barcelona.
Kovacic's minders have fielded enquiries from across Europe, with Manchester United, Manchester City and former club Inter Milan all in contact.
For his part, Lopetegui has also approved Kovacic's sale - and the arrival of Thiago, who he worked with as Spain coach.
