Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insists they were right to sack Fabio Capello in favour of coach Bernd Schuster over the summer.

"It was dangerous, it was not a frivolous decision," said Calderon. "The Madridistas should be grateful to him for bringing the title back and setting us on the right road. But Real Madrid and its fans need to win playing a good game.

"That was the reason for the change. I wish Fabio Capello all the best, both professionally and personally. I reaffirm my success in signing Schuster. It is not a change of trainer, it is a sport project. We have made an authentic revolution. The group is a different one in attitude and age. We have formed the best squad in Europe and not a simply a conglomerate of names."
