Real Madrid No2 Aitor Karanka has hinted they could hand Ricardo Carvalho a free transfer after he failed to find a new club during the market.

Carvalho remains a Real player after Friday's transfer deadline.

Karanka said: "Ricardo's case is different and only time will tell which decision will be taken. He is a player under contract and his circumstances can change at any time."
