Real Madrid players defied Mourinho orders after Villarreal meltdown

Real Madrid players are alleged to have defied coach Jose Mourinho's orders at the end of last week's draw at Villarreal. El Pais says after the controversial result, which saw no less than FIVE Real players and staff sent off, Mourinho wanted his players to complain about the match officials.

"Now you have to go out and tell the press that the referee has robbed us of two points," declared Mourinho.

But while Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe were in agreement, the other senior players rejected the demand, with one replying: "What we have to do is play better football."

Stunned, Mourinho stormed out of the away dressing room to leave the players to assistant coach Aitor Karanka.

It's also suggested Real captain Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos called a players' meeting last Thursday - without any input from coaching staff - to discuss the blow-up with Mourinho and agreed it would not have been 'beneficial' to complain about the officiating.
