Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is facing back surgery.
If the Argentine has to go under the knife, it will leave Real short of options in attack.
There are no contingency plans in place should that outcome arise, with general director Jorge Valdano insisting that there will be no new arrivals in January.
"In principle, there will be no-one, but we will take the opportunity to snap up a player should it occur, although we are not interested," he said.
"There has been no mention of an addition for Higuain, as we are uncertain over his injury. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon."
