Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho played Michael Essien in a wide role for victory over Celta Vigo.

Essien is on-loan at Real from Chelsea.

"We signed Essien because he is a player that the manager knows very well and the various positions he can play in, and in all of those positions he fulfils his role. Today was an important match after the international break and the response of Essien and the team as a whole is what we expected," said Real No2 Aitor Karanka.
