Real Madrid No2 Aitor Karanka says Luka Modric is paying for not doing a preseason.

Modric has struggled since his arrival from Tottenham in the summer.

"He has been paying for not doing all the preseason, the team was not quite right and we have no doubt about the quality of Luka Modric," said Karanka.
