Real Madrid No2 Aitor Karanka was angry over the lack of protection given to Cristiano Ronaldo during their Champions League win at Dinamo Zagreb.
Ronaldo was on the end of several heavy challenges as Madrid earned the three points courtesy of Angel Di Maria's 53rd-minute strike.
The visitors were also aggrieved to have full-back Marcelo sent off after receiving a second yellow card for diving with 17 minutes to go.
Karanka, standing in for the suspended Jose Mourinho, said: "It's worrying to see Marcelo was sent-off when Cristiano Ronaldo is receiving stitches in the dressing room.
"All players should be equally protected."
