Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has backed one from Barcelona pair Andres Iniesta or Xavi to win the Ballon d'Or.

Casillas is pleased to see many Spaniards among the nominees and rates Iniesta and Xavi as more worthy than their Barca teammate Lionel Messi.

He explained: "If I could vote, I would give the trophy to Xavi or Iniesta because they are worthy of this award and they are my friends.

"Andreas and Xavi have won the European Championship, while Messi still lacks a title win for Argentina."
