Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard is ready to return to Heerenveen this month.

Left out of Real's European Super Cup squad for tonight's clash with Atletico Madrid, Odegaard accepts he must leave Madrid.

And Sport says the Norway international has decided to return on-loan to Heerenveen. Odegaard has spent the past 18 months with the Eredivisie outfit.

Derby County and Aston Villa were also interested, but Odegaard feels Dutch football suits him best.

The midfielder was part of Real's US tour squad this preseason.
