Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has denied claims it was he who initiated contact with Inter Milan.
The Croatia captain was at the centre of a mini-saga after the World Cup when it emerged that the Serie A club were moving for him.
However, Modric denied on social media that he had made contact with Inter.
Posting a message in response to the claims, he declared it “the biggest pile of nonsense in history".
Real president Florentino Pérez has filed a complaint with Fifa over Inter's approach for a player with more than six months left on his contract, which contravenes the governing body's rules.
