Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio has refused to rule out a move to Liverpool this summer.

Mundo Deportivo reports Liverpool are preparing a stunning £158million deal for the 22-year-old.

And when pressed about Liverpool's interest at a press conference, Asensio refused the chance to shut down the speculation.

"Liverpool? When the World Cup is over, we'll talk about that sort of thing, now I'm focused on the national team," he told reporters.

Liverpool's interest in Asensio comes as they seek alternatives to Lyon's Nabil Fekir.

Asensio also didn't respond to questions about Julen Lopetegui taking over as the new Madrid coach: "I am happy for Julen that he's been appointed by Madrid, after the World Cup I will speak with him."
