Real Madrid are set to demand first refusal for Gareth Bale if Tottenham come calling for Lassana Diarra.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is chasing Diarra and is eager to close a deal in the coming days.
However, as he struggles to shift out fringe players, Redknapp does not have the funds available to meet Real's asking price.
It's mooted Real chiefs would be willing to drop their £15 million valuation should Spurs agree to give them first option on Bale.
