Real Madrid management split over January transfer plans

Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano wants to buy in the January market.

However, El Mundo Deportivo says president Florentino Perez wants to keep the chequebook closed until next summer.

Perez is using their 6-0 thrashing of Real Zaragoza as proof they do not need to strengthen next month.

However, Valdano has told his president that coach Manuel Pellegrini remains concerned over his left-back options and does not view Marcelo as an out-and-out fullback, instead preferring him in midfield.
