Real Madrid make Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez priority target

Real Madrid are making Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez a major target for the summer market.

The Spain international is Real's priority for the close-season transfer window.

Martinez's defensive qualities and ability to play in midfield and defence is attractive to Real chiefs.

For their part, Bilbao insist they won't be forced into a sale and only meeting Martinez's €40 million buyout clause will see him leave.
