Real Madrid failed with a major bid for Roma striker Mirko Vucinic last week, it has been revealed.

Corriere dello Sport says Real intermediaries sounded out Roma about a £25 million deal for Vucinic, but received little encouragement.

Roma know Real are likely to return in the summer for the young forward and are anxious about securing him to an improved contract.
