Real Madrid are confident signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer. With no breakthrough arriving over new contract talks, De Gea will end the season with just a year to run on his current deal.
The Sunday World says Iker Casillas's shocking performances in Real Madrid's Champions League last-16 tie against Schalke on Tuesday night was the final straw for Bernabeu officials, who have now stepped up their bid to bring De Gea back to his Spanish homeland.
"Real Madrid are convinced they will sign De Gea this summer," a respected Spanish source told the Sunday World.
"The player is keen to move as well, so it looks like this move will happen this summer."
It's suggested United will use Real's push for De Gea to insist on Gareth Bale moving in the opposite direction.
