Real Madrid legend Guti has hit back at Manchester United star Wayne Rooney over his criticism of Pepe.

Rooney rapped Pepe for his alleged stomp on Barcelona star Lionel Messi in last night's Copa clash.

He wrote on Twitter: "Pepe. What an idiot. Sometimes people wind u up."

Guti, who was vice-captain during his 15 years at the Madrid, also initially described Pepe's actions as incomprehensible, but didn't take kindly to Rooney's criticism.

He tweeted: "I laugh at Rooney. There are many saints but in heaven. If you want to be a saint you must practise what you preach. To err is human."
