FC Porto's Iker Casillas has leapt to the defence of former Spain teammate Victor Valdes.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper is seemingly frozen out at Manchester United after failing to gain a move to Turkish club Besiktas in the recent transfer window and is unlikely to see much action under Louis van Gaal this season.
Valdez once was the second best keeper in Spain behind Casillas who indicates that perhaps football is sometimes a little thankless to those who perhaps deserve more.
"I would like to show my full support and wish him good luck," the Real Madrid legend told France Football of the former Barcelona number one.
"It shows that football sometimes can be ungrateful.
"He has a good mind and I hope he will succeed in moving forward."
