Real Madrid launching bid for Chelsea midfield ace Lampard

Real Madrid are ready to bid for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard. The Daily Mail says the combination of Madrid's rich history and their all-star cast, plus the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager, is likely to prove an alluring proposition for the England midfielder.

Luring Lampard, who is happy at Chelsea and not looking for a transfer, will be a challenge for Madrid. But as proven by their signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, they have persuasively deep pockets.

Lampard's current magnificent form and vast experience have convinced Real sporting director Jorge Valdano and club president Florentino Perez that the midfielder is the man to reignite their flagging fortunes in Europe.

It will take some sweet talking from Mourinho to convince Lampard to move to Spain. The midfielder is enjoying life under Carlo Ancelotti, a fact demonstrated by his 27 goals for Chelsea this season.
