Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has no problem with Sergio Ramos and Barcelona's Xavi pulling out of Spain's friendly with Italy.
Casillas understands that approach, but is eager to feature in the match himself despite it coming so early in the season.
"It's a very nice game, which pits the last two world champion teams. It is true that in August, a lot of players are still in pre-season but it is a game that we all want to play," he told Marca.
"Any player who has been included in this selection is pleased to belong to a team of European and world champions. They are happy to be here, but we are early in the season and there are players who have discomfort, and to force them to play at this point would be crazy."
Casillas' comments were echoed by Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta who also feels the challenge of travelling to Italy - with the fixture taking place in Bari - will make it difficult to win.
"It's true that we're at the beginning of the season but there's always an extra motivation playing against Italy," he said.
"They're one of the best teams in the world and this is one of those games you always want to play in. I expect it to be an intense game as it always is against Italy, and even more so because they're at home."
