Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has dismissed the success of Barcelona's La Masia academy.

Casillas insists such things go in cycles.

"I also remember the Barcelona of 11 or 12 years ago with almost no homegrown players in their squad, you cannot assume that now they're playing with many youth players that it will last. This goes in stages.

"It's a claim they now want to communicate, but at the time were Puyol, Xavi and little else."
