Real Madrid keeper Adan: Man Utd legend Van der Sar my hero

Real Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan is ready for his latest first team chance tonight against Ajax.

Adan is being a new chance by Real coach Jose Mourinho in tonight's Champions League dead rubber.

"I've been working a long time to be ready so that fans don't notice Iker is absent when he doesn't play. I'm ready and the coach has faith in me. This means I'm doing a good job; that's why he's giving me the chance to play," he said.

"Tomorrow will be special to me and I'm sure I'll be very happy. I've been dreaming about playing a Champions League match against a great side at a famous venue since I was a child and it will come true tomorrow. It will be important to gain experience and help the team win some more. It is incredibly important to me."

Adan admits Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar is among his heroes.

"I've always looked up to German and Dutch goalkeepers like Kahn and Van der Sar. They are serious players. But the best example is at home: Iker Casillas. I work with him every day. He is the best goalkeeper one can look up to."
